Manage your account as a student
Your account is the login that is yours alone. As a student there is not much to set up, which is the point: you sign in and get to work. There is one thing you can change yourself, the language Sokra shows you, and a couple of things your teacher looks after for you, like your password. This article shows you which is which, so you know what you can do and when to ask.
This takes a minute. You do not need any technical knowledge.
Before you start
You need to be signed in. If you cannot get in yet, see how to log in first, linked at the end. Your account works a little differently from a teacher's: you sign in with a username, not an email, and your teacher or school sets it up for you. That is why some settings a teacher has are not on your account, and that is normal.
Open your account settings
Your settings are a short page with a few separate things on it. Open the one you came for and leave the rest.
1. Open your account settings
Open Account Settings from your account menu. The page opens on Account Security. As a student you see your Language here. The email and password options a teacher has are not shown on your account, because your login works a different way.
2. Change your display language
Next to Language, you see the language Sokra is showing you now. Open the dropdown and pick another one to change what you see across Sokra. The change is just for you and does not affect your classmates or your teacher. This is the setting you control yourself.
3. Get a new password when you need one
You sign in with a username, not an email, so you cannot reset your own password. If you forget it or get locked out, ask your teacher. They can set a new password for you and hand it over, sometimes on a printed login card. Once you are back in, that new password is the one you use.
Tips
- Switch the language whenever you like. It only changes what you see, so try it and switch back if you prefer.
- Keep your username and password somewhere only you can find them. You use them every time you sign in.
- If something about your account looks wrong, your teacher is the fastest way to fix it. They set up student accounts and can sort most things out quickly.
Data & safety
Your teacher or school set up your account, and you sign in with a username, not an email, so you do not need an email address to use Sokra. The language you pick changes only what you see, not what your classmates or teacher see. Your password is yours alone, so keep it private and do not share it, the same as you would with any password. If you ever need to change your login or ask what happens with your information, your teacher or school is the right place to start.
Troubleshooting
I do not see a Change email or Change password option. That is expected on a student account. You sign in with a username instead of an email, so those options are not shown. Your teacher looks after your login for you.
I forgot my password. You cannot reset it yourself, because you do not have an email to reset it with. Ask your teacher, and they can set a new password and give it to you.
Sokra is in the wrong language. Open Account Settings, find Language, and pick the one you want. The change applies to you straight away.
I cannot get into my account at all. Your teacher or school can help. They set up student accounts, so they can check your username and reset your password if you need it.
